Qualifications:
- WV Teacher
Certification for the appropriate teaching assignment.
- Employee of
Hardy County Schools
- Three years
coaching experience desired.

To provide direction to
Middle/Secondary Interscholastic sports programs
Performance
Responsibilities:
- Provides
supervision or assigns supervision for all home athletic events and any away
events as directed by the Principal.
- Develops all
athletic schedules to reduce conflicts with other school events.
- Works with
athletic staff to schedule practice and games to minimize conflicts over
facility use.
- Approves all
financial transactions by the Athletic Department and the individual sport’s
coaches. Approves all purchase orders through the Principal.
- Fostering of
good school-community relations by keeping the community aware and
responsive to the athletic program.
- Serve as
school liaison to and attend booster club meetings and activities.
- In
cooperation with the school principal, plan, coordinate and maintain the
school master calendar for the scheduling of student activities and the use
of school facilities.
- Responsible
for contacting the Transportation Director for transportation for all away
games.
- Responsible
for contracts:
- Check
contracts of officials
- Check
interscholastic game contracts
- Athletic
Insurance
- Check to
determine whether students participating in athletics are adequately
insured
- Inform
parents of athletes that school insurance is supplemental and that the
parent must file a claim with their own insurance company before school
insurance will pay
- Responsible
for eligibility lists for all sports and subsequent reporting to WVSSAC and
participating schools:
- Check
residency and grade eligibility of athletes
- Attends
necessary meetings and is responsible to notify all coaches that are
required to attend coached clinics
- Works with
staff assigned by the Principal for efficient functioning of assigned home
games
- Enforces all
policies and rules of the Athletic Department
- Assists
administrative staff/principal in evaluating all coaches within 30 days of
the close of the season
- Arranges
physical exams for all athletes and maintains written reports
