JOB DESCRIPTION
Qualifications:
1) Meet minimum standards for teaching certification as set forth by the West Virginia State Board of Education in Minimum Standards for the licensure of West Virginia School Personnel for the subject and grade level assigned. Masters degree Preferred.
2) Certification in Administration or School Guidance Counseling Preferred.
3) Three years teaching experience.
4) Good evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers, and/or supervisors.
5) Ability to work independently and make effective decisions.
6) Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel, and parents, and an ability to work cooperatively with others.
7) Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning.
Immediate Supervisor: Principal.
Salary: Regular teacher’s contract with a $1,000.00 supplement.
Evaluation: Completed with the Supervising Principal as Professional Support Staff in accordance with Hardy County Board of Education policy.
Job Goal: To assist the Principal in effectively managing the school while working effectively with students and student problems.
Responsibilities:
1) Deals with student problems in cooperation with Principal, Counselors, the Attendance Director, the Special Education Director and representative of outside agencies;
2) Contacts parents about student problems;
3) Maintains and periodically reviews student discipline records;
4) Works with administrative staff to maintain school discipline plan;
5) Keeps administrative staff informed of all activities;
6) Implements the Programs of Study;
7) Maintains documentation relative to bus discipline issues;
8) Fosters environment conducive to learning;
9) Utilizes instructional management systems models that increase student learning;
10) Monitors student progress towards Mastery of Content Standards;
11) Communicates effectively with educational community, parents, and supplemental agencies, as necessary;
12) Meets professional responsibilities;
13) Participates in Professional Development activities as required by position;
14) Follows rules, policies and procedures as specified;
15) Maintains confidentiality.

2) Assists Principal in monitoring student attendance, as assigned.

1) Communicates with students, parents, educational personnel, and others;
2) Utilizes standard grammar, listening skills, and clarity in the presentation of ideas:
3) Communicates student progress according to established procedures and policies;
4) Communicates regularly and effectively with students, co-workers, parents/guardians, and the community and exhibits appropriate interactive skills;
5) Follows confidentiality procedures regarding students, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members;
6) Speaks and writes standard English clearly, correctly, and distinctly; determines and utilizes appropriate community resources.
