JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Secretary I, II, III

Qualifications:

 

1)      Must have a high school diploma.

2)      Skilled in Computer Processing and Spreadsheets.

3)      Ability to type with accuracy a minimum of words per minute.

4)      One year of successful experience in bookkeeping preferred.

5)      One-year experience working with the West Virginia Education Information System (WVEIS) for accounting.

6)      Must pass appropriate classification test.

7)      Good evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers, and/or supervisors.

 

Immediate Supervisor:  As assigned by the Board of Education

 

Terms of Employment:  Set by the Board of Education for Job Specific requirements

 

Salary:  Based on Service Classification

 

Evaluation:  Completed with the Supervisor in accordance with Hardy County Board of Education policy.

 

Job Goal:  To assist in all clerical tasks and other duties relative to the classification of the secretary.

3.               Completes tasks with minimum supervision; keeps work environment and equipment well kept and free of obstruction; works as part of a team; dress is appropriate and conforms to safety standards.

4.              Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of daily performance and duties.

5.              Keeps supervisor(s) aware of scheduled appointments.

6.              Regularly observes established safety procedures.

 

2.      Performance

 

1.              Demonstrates a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts

2.              Demonstrates knowledge of Board policies and Administrative procedures as they relate to his/her job assignment and that of the person to whom he/she is assigned.

3.              Resolves problem-solving situations with minimal assistance from the supervisor.

4.              Demonstrates the ability to plan and prioritize his/her daily activities.

5.              Is thorough in completing assigned tasks as demonstrated by attending to details accurately and efficiently.

6.              Is efficient in receiving and routing communications.

7.              Is economical in the use of school/county supplies.

8.              Follow procedures to maintain confidentiality of data of student/school/staff/office information.

9.              Develops a positive relationship with students/staff/parents/public.

10.          Is effective in the management of financial matters; such as, budget allocations, recording expenditures, maintaining balance of each account, reconciliation of check statements, etc.

11.          Demonstrates ability to follow directions.

12.          Is responsible to the directions and/or suggestions of the immediate supervisor.

13.          Works cooperatively with other staff members.

14.          Exercises good judgment during unusual situations.

15.          Anticipates job responsibilities that need to be performed.

 

3.      Training and Experience

1.              Demonstrates effective use of procedures related to secretarial duties.

2.              Participates in job-related training programs.

3.              Reads current articles related to job assignment.

2.              Exhibits enthusiasm for the apposition assigned. Possesses physical/emotional health necessary for effective job performance.
